is hair grease bad …
is hair grease bad for the hair ?
WOW!!!! I …
WOW!!!! I completely disagree that black women should wash their hair every other week. Contrary to popular belief, black women nor our hair will not melt or dissipate in water. It’s good for your hair, scalp and body. I would be careful of using cheap, drying shampoos but it’s asinine to believe frequent hair washing is the culprit hindering “healthy hair”.
Lastly, would you take advise from someone whose own hair isn’t the epitome of health? NO
for you to be a …
for you to be a stylist i would have figured you would know more about hair and proper maintanance but to say that washing your hair to often can be drying to the scalp is plain incorrect and silly. water is a natural moisturizer so it can not be damaging at all. out body needs water everyday so why wouldn’t our hair. come on people dont nieve, it’s really common sense.
i disagree with …
i disagree with washing hair every other week, that is to long to go without washing hair especially natural afro textured hair. water is good for our hair and washing it with a shampoo can strip the hair but co washing is good. i guess if you have a perm washing it can be damaging. i wash my hair with conditioner 3 times a week minimum and shampoo with a natural cleansing bar once a week. my hair loves water as i’m sure mos natural sistas and bros will agree.

I agree. If I washed my hair only every other week I’d have horrible build up and greasy looking hair thats very weighed down. I co-wash every 5 days.
Good tips.

Good tips.
I use all of these tips already. I co-wash every 5 days or so, and shampoo probably once every 3 wks. I oil my scalp with tea tree oil for its anti-fungal properties probably every 10 days and I oil my scalp with coconut oil mixed with olive oil after every co-wash. I have dry scalp and this is a life-saver. I also use this on my ends. This helps keep my hair soft, shiny and manageable. I wrap my hair every single night with a silk scarf. Soon I’ll purchase a silk pillow case.

i always thought if …
i always thought if you wore your hair down that it would tend to grow and if it was worn up it would take longer to grow.
also, i always thought white womens hair grew faster because it was straight and the hair texture was so easily like that then their hair would tend to grow as long as it was in straight texture…
are you caucasian? …
are you caucasian? because if you talk about african american hair and compare it to your caucasian hair and how you treat your hair it just is not the same thing.
yea i feel like as …
yea i feel like as a black female that i shouldnt have to wait 2 weeks to wash my hair and at the same time i am oiling my scalp and hair but it feels itchy and hard to deal with everyday. so i wash it like every 2 days and my scalp has felt cleaner and better and not as itchy because i moisturize it as well. it seems to be growing faster too. like watering a plant…
i am a black female …
i am a black female and i feel like if i wash my hair everyday like caucasian women have to do because their hair is more oily i feel like my hair will GROW much faster because it is like watering a plant if you water the roots and scalp it will grow and be healthier…also, since nails and hair grow at the same time and length i noticed when washing your hands and bathing your nails grow about an inch every 2 weeks or close to it. you know?
