try any good repair mask, never shower without applying it afterwards, get the John freda root awakening system, it is really good for ur case, shampoo conditioner and mask, dont change shampoos or conditioners, stick to one coz that is very bad on hair, say away from heat devices and take Biotin Vitamins, rub castor oil on ur roots 1 hour b4 shower, never brush wet hair, if u will be very gentle on hair if u start now u might be willing to grow beautiful long hair very fast.

not cutting it is the main thing u gotta do , trim it like three time a year, tht will be enuf 4 curly hair. always always use a good deeep repair mask for half an hour with a cap and a hot towel over it, instead of the average ten minutes .. never brush ur hair while wet, curly hair needs alot of conditioning, buy a leave in conditioner from fructis- long and strong - apply an amount of a peanut on ut tips everyday, never wash ur hair everyday - every 3 days is just perfect for culrs to grow but maintain clean.
heat devices prevent hair growth also, so u gotta go naturally culry for a couple of months, u can blowdry like twice a month but since u want hair growth gotta lay off it 4 a while.
buy Biotin vitamins - specialized in hair growth and strangth.
rub castor oil 1 hour b4 shower into ur roots and cover up ur head with a good plastic cap then a goos wool cap over it.. to create xtra heat .
sleep ina ponytail, if ur hair is loose during sleep it breaks out, so when it grows from 1 end it breaks at the other, so u never nitice any growth difference. use anti breakage shampoos like John freda line or Loreal elvive anti breakage line
dont comb ur hair too much - curly hair should be combed alot less than straight, ur hair can break out alot during combing so stay away frm that and also do not play with ur fingers in ur hair - this will cause grease and also bad breakage over time.

i use a shampoo called F.A.S.T. it is canadian specially for hair growth enhancement there is also Mane n Tail horse shampoo makes ur hair very healthy when used 2 or 3 times a week

u need repair masks, full of moisturizers inside, u need a good serum - elvive anti breakage or anti frizz serum is the best there is. apply on dry hair for shine and a supply of protein for ur hair.
eat protein!!! hair is all about how much protein comes into ur body.
dont trim hair alot- it doesnt make it grow only makes it healthier and curly hair grows slowly

hairs are made up of protein
A single follicle on the human scalp produces approximately .35 millimeters of hair shaft per day.
Vitamin B-complex - 50 mg. of the major B-vitamins (including folate, biotin and inositol)
Vitamin B-6 - 50 mg. of vitamin B-6

Vitamin C with bioflavonoids - one to two grams daily Vitamin E - 400 to 800 IU daily

Beta-Carotene - 10,000 to 15,000 IU of beta-carotene daily

One recommended daily dose of magnesium, sulfur, zinc

Flaxseed oil - one tbsp daily or one tablet
Beta-Carotene - 10,000 to 15,000 IU of beta-carotene daily

so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks.(if your hair is really healthy then up the trims to about every 12 weeks, a trim is just a snip off the ends) if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the growth part of the e to kick in. the other benefits are instant. dont brush your hair but maybe once a week to message the scalp, i use a wide tooth comb at other times. brushing breaks off hair. i just started biotin vitamins going on four months ago this sat and notice and big growth spurt from that. biotin is cheap and also promotes hair regrowth and growth. i also have the biotin shampoo that i got from a vitamin store online.(puritans pride.com or vitadigest.com) five bucks for a big bottle and a big bottle of E is about 8 bucks. the biotin is about 3 bucks. i now take my fingers and message my scalp about five times a week, along with the brushing thats a good way to do it without damaging your hair. apply two or three capsules of e to dry hair and message into scalp and hair really well, put damp towel in microwave for 1 min to get hot, then quickly wrap head, a dry towel can be placed over that to help hold in the heat, leave on for 15 min, shampoo well, makes an excellent hot oil treatment. good luck, AND some people will argue about regular trims, your hair does grow from the roots, yes, but if your hair is not trimmed at the bottom, the it splits, get dry and brittle not to mention thin looking from no trims at all and frizzy. then your hair starts to break off at the bottom and giving you the appearance that it never grows. so to make hair grow as fast as possible and keep it healthy, then trims are an essential part of hair care. look on a ruler and check out less then half an inch and if your salon does not know what that is then take a ruler with you, i have. as of three weeks ago adding beta carotene vitamins to my regimen. i found out that along with the biotin it is very very good in promoting hair growth. they were five bucks for a bottle of 100. got them at walmart. the biotin and e can also be purchased at walmart, and adding all this up is pretty cheap to get great hair. i just wish the shampoo was available in the stores, but not yet.
References :
Congrats for wanting your long hair back. No exactly how that feeling is because I've been there. I went from short, long, longer, then to very short. In between, I've damaged it from perming and dyeing. But I'm totally comfortable and secure enough to where people compliment my hair more now than when I was into experimenting.

Patience and eating all the healthy foods found in pyramid food groups. As long as you're not taking medications, supplement, etc. . your hair should grow normally. Many man-made products are not FDA approve, they don't have manpower to investigate them all, and unless someone complains they're very sick, they don't get banned.
References :
I know hair. I have silky, shiny, healthy hair, even beauty salons compliment my hair for it feels like hair not hay.

Try Biotin Supplements. I'm using them right now and it definitely seems like my hair is growing faster than it's normal sluggish rate.
References :
http://generalmedicine.suite101.com/article.cfm/truth_about_biotin_for_hair_growth

nightly scalp massages before bed, eatting better, drinking more water, taking prenatal vitamins [weird i know but it works], and washing your hair less. this isnt a mariculous cure for short hair. ive been doing it after getting a razor cut and bleaching. it was like jaw/chin length now it brushes my collar bone. and i got it cut only like 6 weeks ago. the regrowth process is very slow. but avoid hair dye at almost all costs. it makes it grow slower.
