not sure if anyone will know the answer to this. i haven’t been on it long, but i’m suddenly worried. will all ftm experience male pattern baldness, or only a select few?
**i do not mean in the far future, i mean occuring in youth to ftm. like, hair loss at an early age as the result of hormones.
It’s based on genetics. Many sources state that if your mother’s brother went bald, there’s a good chance that you will too. Not sure if you can judge that based on your own brothers, but baldness is passed from the mother’s side, so I assume so.
My understanding is that the chances of MPB are pretty much the same as any cisgender man.

Are there many bald men in your family, if so, then the chances are you would be too.

It’s a hereditary thing- either it’s in your genes, or it’s not.

I read.
A lot.
If you’re genetically predisposed towards it, the likelihood is 100%. Once your system is testosterone dominant, you will produce copious DHT, which causes baldness. The good news is if you take Propecia (finesteride) you can generally prevent MPB. Hopefully, within the next 5-10 years, some of the newer baldness treatments (hair cloning, stem cell therapy) will put an end to this problem forever. They are very close, so keep your fingers crossed.
